Condition explained
Honest about condition
No shirt thirty years old is perfect. That is why, for every shirt, we describe what you can expect, including what isn't there, and we show every detail in a photo. So you don't buy on trust, but on what you can see.
Every shirt gets one of four levels.
The four levels
Like new
Never worn, or as good as. No visible signs of use, no flaws. Sometimes the tag is still attached. Note that even an unworn shirt can have fold lines from years of lying folded up. We tell you if it does.
Very good
Carefully kept and worn a few times at most. No holes, no stains, no smell. You only see very slight signs, such as fine bobbling under the arms or a hairline crack in the print.
Good
Worn, and you can see it, but still a lovely shirt. Everything is complete and wearable. Every flaw is described and photographed: a cracked print, slight fading, a crease in the collar.
Worn
This shirt has had a life. Think of faded colours, a print that has partly worn away, a small hole or a stain. The shirt is whole and complete, but no longer smooth. We describe everything and show it.
What we always state
- The size on the label, and the size we measure ourselves.
- The season, and whether it is a home, away or third shirt.
- The material (from the care label).
- Every flaw: where it is, how big it is, and a photo.
- What we are not sure of, such as whether it is a match shirt or a fan version.
How we measure
We lay every shirt completely flat and measure:
- Chest (laid flat): from armpit to armpit, about 2.5 cm below the armhole. The circumference is therefore roughly double.
- Length: from the shoulder seam next to the collar to the hem.
- Shoulder: from shoulder seam to shoulder seam, across the back.
Sizes on old shirts often run smaller than what you are used to now. So compare the measurements with a shirt that you know fits you well: lay it flat and measure the same way.
What we don't promise
We don't give an official guarantee of authenticity. What we describe, we have checked as well as we can: label, stitching, prints, season. If we say a shirt is original, we stand behind that. If we doubt it, you will read that too.
