Frequently asked questions
About the shirts
Is this shirt genuine?
We don't give an official guarantee of authenticity, because hardly anyone can do that with old shirts. What we do is check what there is to check: the label, the stitching, the prints and badges, and the season. If we say a shirt is original, we stand behind that. If we doubt it, you will read that with the shirt under What we don't know. Every shirt has photos of the label and the details, so you can check for yourself. You can read more in the article How to spot a genuine vintage football shirt.
Which size should I choose? Do the sizes run small?
Often they do: an L from thirty years ago runs smaller than an L today. That is why, for every shirt, we give the size on the label and our own measurements: chest (laid flat), length and shoulder. Lay a shirt that you know fits you well flat and measure the same way, and you will see at once whether it works. The explanation is on the Condition explained page.
What do Like new, Very good, Good and Worn mean?
Those are our four condition levels, with a description and photos of every detail for each shirt. Everything is explained on the Condition explained page.
Why is there only one of each shirt?
Because every shirt is a second-hand piece with its own story. We don't buy stock; we track shirts down one by one. When a shirt is gone, it's gone. The story stays online, marked Sold.
Is the shirt still available?
You can see that on the product page. If there is an Add to my cart button, you can order it. If it says Sold, it's gone. If it says In a cart, someone is holding it for 15 minutes right now. Look again later: if that person doesn't check out, it becomes available again.
Can I reserve a shirt?
You can't reserve without paying. What we do is hold a shirt for you for 15 minutes as soon as it is in your cart. That way you can check out in peace without anyone snatching it from under your nose. If you don't pay within those 15 minutes, it becomes available to everyone again.
Ordering and paying
Which payment methods can I use?
Bancontact, iDEAL and card (Visa and Mastercard). You pay on the secure payment page of our payment partner Stripe. We never see your bank or card details.
My payment failed or expired. What now?
Then nothing has been charged. You get an email with a link to try again, as long as the shirt is still available. If it has gone to someone else in the meantime, we will tell you.
I paid, but the shirt turned out to be gone. What happens?
Sometimes a payment only comes in after your reservation has expired and the shirt has meanwhile been sold to someone else. Then we cancel your order and refund the full amount automatically, usually within [5] working days (example). You get an email about it.
Do I get an invoice? Is VAT shown?
Our shirts are second-hand goods and fall under the margin scheme. That is why your order confirmation or invoice shows no separate VAT amount. If you would like an invoice, email us with your order number. [Adjust this to your VAT choice: if you don't use the margin scheme, this answer is not correct.]
Can I change or cancel my order?
Email us as soon as possible at [E-MAIL], before the parcel leaves. If it is already on its way, you can still withdraw from your purchase within the cooling-off period, see below.
Delivery
Do you deliver outside Belgium?
Yes, to all countries of the European Union. Not outside the EU for the time being; perhaps later to the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Norway.
What does delivery cost?
Example rates: Belgium and the Netherlands € 5.95, rest of the European Union € 9.95. Several shirts in one parcel pay delivery only once, up to 3 shirts per parcel. You see the cost in your cart, before you pay.
Do I have to pay customs?
Not within the EU. For countries outside the EU we don't deliver for the time being.
When will I get my parcel?
We ship within 2 working days of your payment. Delivery time after that is usually 2 to 5 working days. You get an email with the tracking link as soon as the parcel is on its way.
Can I order several shirts in one parcel?
Yes. Order them at the same time and they go together in one parcel and you pay delivery once, up to 3 shirts per parcel.
Returns and guarantee
Can I send the shirt back?
Yes. You have 14 days to change your mind, counted from the day after you receive the shirt. You don't have to give a reason. You can read how it works on the Right of withdrawal and form page. The cost of sending it back is for you.
How long does the guarantee last?
For second-hand shirts a legal guarantee of [1 year] from delivery applies. We state this on the product page and at checkout. [CHOICE: if you don't use the limit to 1 year, 2 years apply. See the terms and conditions.] The guarantee covers defects that we have not described. Signs of wear that we did describe and photograph are not a defect.
What if the shirt is not as described?
Email us with photos at [E-MAIL]. If it doesn't match the description, we will put it right: repair, a price reduction or a refund. Because every shirt is unique, we usually can't replace it. The cost of sending it back is then ours.
Extra
What is a story card?
A small card in every parcel, with what we know about the shirt and what we don't. That way the story travels with the shirt. You can keep it, or pass it on when you pass the shirt on.
Can I buy a shirt as a gift?
Yes. Enter the recipient's address as the delivery address. There is no price in the parcel. Note that you remain the buyer. The order confirmation goes to you, and the cooling-off period and guarantee run through your order. [OPTION: if you want a personal message written on a card, email us after you order. Include this only if you offer it.]
How do I wash an old football shirt?
Hand wash it cold, turn it inside out, no bleach and not in the tumble dryer. All the tips are on the Washing and storing page.
Do you buy shirts too?
We buy shirts from private sellers and collectors, but only if there is a story with them. Email us photos and tell us what you know. We don't promise to buy every shirt, but we read everything.
Where can I go if we can't sort it out between us?
Email us first at [E-MAIL]. If we can't work it out, you can go to the Consumentenombudsdienst (the Belgian consumer mediation service, https://consumentenombudsdienst.be), a free and independent mediation service.
